SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - A 45-year-old woman was reportedly run over this afternoon by her own vehicle in Schuylkill County. According to preliminary reports in the Republican Herald, the woman fell from her car in a parking lot behind a beauty salon. The car apparently rolled over the left side of her body.  She was taken to a medical helicopter that landed at Penn State Schuylkill Campus and flown to a medical center outside Schuylkill County.

REBERSBURG - A cow shot and killed in Centre County. Troopers say the incident happened in the area of Fox Gap Road near Rebersburg in Miles Township around ten o'clock the night of August 24th.
Police continue to investigate. The culprit will be charged with cruelty to animals.

MILLHEIM - Police are investigating sexual assault charges in Centre County. State Police say a 47-year old man and 28-year old woman are alleged to have had sexual contact with an 8-year old girl at a residence in Millheim in 2007. The investigation into the allegations continues.

WILLIAMSPORT - Three people are homeless but no one was hurt after fire ripped through four town houses in LoyalSock Township Lycoming County early this morning. A state police fire marshal and fire officials are investigating the blaze that broke out just before two a.m. at the Northwood Estates at 1600 Oakmont Drive.  We're being told the fire destroyed the four units one was vacant, causing about three-quarters of a million dollars in damages. The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the blaze.

WILLIAMSPORT - Fire crews rushed out to battle a three alarm fire at four town-homes in Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County early this morning. The fire was reported just before two a.m. at 1600 Oakmont Drive. Crews from Loyalsock Township, Montoursville, Williamsport, South Williamsport, Old Lycoming Township, and the American Red Cross were on the scene. We are told no one was injured in the blaze, three people lining in three of the town-homes escaped and are without a place to live. All four town-homes were heavily damaged with several walls collapsing.

WILLIAMSPORT - Williamsport police were called Monday night to the intersection of Campbell Street and Park Avenue, where an undisclosed amount of money was reported stolen from someone. Using a pistol in a the hold-up, police say an unidentified man is believed to have sped-off in an older model car with the cash. No shots were fired. The Sun Gazette reports, the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. and police were looking for a two-toned silver-colored Oldsmobile Delta 88 sedan. Witnesses told police the car, in which four males were riding, was last seen leaving the scene traveling north on Campbell Street, near High Street.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - A Schuylkill Haven man was flown to a hospital after his motorcycle hit the front of a car Monday afternoon in Schuylkill County. The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on Route 443 in Wayne Township. Police say the car driven by 80-year-old Walter Russelavage of Tower City turned into the path of the cycle operated by 51-year-old Darrell Spotts. Spotts was thrown from the bike. He remains in serious condition at the Reading Hospital. Neither the driver of the car nor his passenger were hurt.

ORWIGSBURG - An Orwigsburg man is being charged with a DUI crash Monday afternoon in Schuylkill County that sent a Middleport woman to the hospital. That crash happened at the intersection of on Route 61 and Briar Road in North Manheim Township. Police say 49-year-old Tammy Post was stopped at the intersection to make a turn when 55-year-old Frederick Schnerring slammed into the rear of her vehicle. She was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center East with what police called a moderate head injury. Schnerring was taken into custody for DUI.

BELLEFONTE - A third arrest has been made in the year-old homicide of 29-year-old Samuel Boob of Tusseyville. State Police on Friday night arrested 26-year-old Kermit Butts, of Madisonburg. Police believe Butts drove Ronald Heichel to a spot near Boob's home on Tusseyville Road, in Potter Township, the day Samuel Boob was shot and killed at the home. Police say Butts also drove Heichel away from the area. Butts is charged with aggravated assault and hindering prosecution after witnessing the planning of the shooting and driving the shooter to and from the scene, then keeping it all a secret for a year. The victim's wife, Mirinda Boob, and Bellefonte man Ronald Heichel, were charged August 27th, 2009, with the crime. Police said Heichel lured Sam Boob into his own garage, then shot him twice with his own shotgun on August 23rd. The Centre Daily Times reports, Butts has allegedly admitted to police that Heichel told him he wanted to kill Sam Boob and offered him $5,000 if Butts helped him hide the body.

SUNBURY - The former Northumberland Borough Sewer Authority clerk will spend up to 3 years in state prison. 48-year-old Cynthia Lark of Northumberland was sentenced to one to 3 year's Monday before Northumberland County President Judge Robert Sacavage. She was also ordered to pay back nearly one million dollars in restitution. Lark is accused of stealing over $400,000 from the authority over a ten-year period, and failing to pay nearly $500,000 in IRS tax returns.

POTTSVILLE - A Hazelton man receives 12 years in prison for robberies he committed in Schuylkill County in April 2009. Schuylkill County Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin handed down that sentence to 46-year-old William Tierno, on Monday. Dolbin made the sentence consecutive to the one of 8 to 24 years for conspiracy and other charges from Philadelphia that Tierno is serving at the state prison in Coal Township, Northumberland County. Tierno pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery for a hold-ups at the Port Carbon Turkey Hill and the Family Dollar store in Pottsville.

BLOOMSBURG - A man threatened friends with a knife and resisted police trying to arrest him early Sunday, in Bloomsburg. The Press Enterprise reports, police had to Taser the man four times to get him under control. The heavyset man, whom police did not identify Monday, was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.

WILLIAMSPORT - A police drug informant was emotionally upset when returning to Williamsport police with cocaine purchased in an alleged drug deal, after the dealer pointed a gun at the informant and strip searched the informant. Police say that happened March 20th. Now 34-year-old Christopher White of Williamsport is behind bars on $50-thousand dollars bail. Police say the informant did purchase $400 dollars worth of cocaine from White during the unnerving transaction.

WILLIAMSPORT - A New Jersey man is free on $250,000 bail on charges he conspired to distribute cocaine in Centre County over more than a three-year period. 49-year-old Adrian Alfred, of Jersey City, faces two counts of cocaine distribution. The indictment alleges Alfred and others obtained cocaine in New Jersey and elsewhere and then delivered in Centre County at various locations along Interstate 80 between January 2007 and August 5th, 2010. Alfred was arrested August 5th at the McDonald's in Boggs Township, as he pulled into the parking lot with $16,000 of the drug.

FRACKVILLE - A 54-year-old Ashland area man was arrested Monday and jailed for allegedly having child pornography on his computer. Joseph Chimahosky, was brought before District Judge Bernadette Nahas on 17 felony counts of sexual abuse of children-possession of child pornography and one felony count of criminal use of a computer. He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $25,000 straight cash bail. The porn was allegedly found after Chimahosky took the computer for repairs to an Ashland business.

GILBERTON - In Schuylkill County ten homes will get a face-lift in Gilberton, thanks to a state grant from the department of community and economic development. Over the next year, the $350,000 grant will be used to repair and give a new life to homes owned by those with low to moderate incomes. The funds will not be used for any new construction; only repairs to existing structures can be paid for through the grant. The work is expected to start in the spring of next year. This isn't the first time Gilberton has obtained the grant, they receive it every few years and it has helped out a lot of houses that wouldn't have been upgraded otherwise. There is a waiting list on the funds, and only residents that have lived in the borough for over two years can apply.

DANVILLE - A Realtor has a signed sales agreement to buy the former Cabinet Industries property, in Danville demolish the old factory and build condos. Tim Karr of Lewisburg says he'd like to construct 27 high-end condominiums because studies have shown a need for such housing in the area. He has a court-issued sales agreement with owner Gib Spradlin to buy the approximately 2-acre lot for $280,000. Meanwhile Spradlin remains in jail after ignoring a judge's order to stop demolition at the old factory and staring a fire there earlier this month. The parcel must pass an environmental study, which should be complete in about two weeks, and plans must get tentative approval from the borough.

STATE COLLEGE - A groundbreaking on the Suzanne Pohland Paterno Catholic Student Faith Center at Penn State will be held at 10:30 this morning at 113 East Park Avenue in State College. Joe and Sue Paterno are honorary co-chairs of the campaign to raise $6.5 million for the 22,000-square-foot center. It will include a day chapel, library, student lounges and residential space for Benedictine fathers. The Centre Daily Times reports, Sue Paterno has been involved with the campus ministry since 1962 and worked on the student center for more than 10 years. Bishop Joseph Adamec, of the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese, along with the Paternos will be at the groundbreaking ceremony.

POTTSVILLE - Modesty is the best policy in the Pottsville Area School District. As students filed in to Pottsville Area High School on Monday for the first day of the 2010-11 school year, many were buttoning their shirts to the collar. The Republican Herald reports, Principal Jacqueline Wapinsky stood near the door to the high school cafeteria, greeting students on the way in. She reminded them of the district's new dress code, which was officially launched on the first day of school. The new code requires shirts to be buttoned to the collarbone, no shorts or T-shirts, no sleeveless shirts and no skin showing in the middle. There were only 21 violations out of more than 11-hundred students in the high school. The Pottsville Area school board approved the new policy May 19th in an effort to eliminate distractions in the classroom.
